Whenever you are new to the field of metal detectors, you usually have a lot of questions that you want answered. Or, you may be scared to get started using metal detectors, because you are afraid of how to use them. The good news is that I am here to answer a few of the most commonly asked questions about metal detectors. Please keep in mind that all metal detectors are a little bit different, and to know what yours can do best, you should always read the book that comes with your metal detector. By doing that you can rest assure that you are using it the right away.

Beach Metal Detecting, Crimea, Black Sea

One question people ask all the time about metal detectors is, “Can one metal detector really do it all?” The answer is yes and no. Most of the metal detectors that are out there can pick up on almost any metal in the ground. However, there are some metals that are harder to detect, things like gold. That being said, if you are looking for gold you are going to want a more sensitive metal detector. Of course, if you are just looking for coins, a sensitive metal detector could get on your bad side really fast, because it would pick up on all the small pieces of metal like the pull tab to a soda pop can.

Minelab GPX-4500 Metal Detector

Another question that gets asked a lot is, “Which metal detector is the best?” However, this question does not have a single answer. Really, all metal detectors are better at one thing more than the other. If you put them all together you would have the best one. So, really it depends on your style, and how you like to look for metal. Only you can choose the best metal detector for yourself.

Have you ever bought something that costs a lot of money, but you could not tell the different between it and something that was the same except cost less money? Well this is not going to be the same with metal detectors. In fact, I can say that you are going to get what you pay for. If you see a metal detector for $1,000 and another one for $500, then the $1,000 one is going to be better. You may say that it just looks like it has more stuff on it, but it really does. All those extra buttons are used to fine tune the metal detector. By doing that, you can be sure that you are only picking up on the stuff that you want to pick up on. Also, another commonly ask question is, “Where do I know to dig? Well, if you feel like you should not be digging in a place then you more the likely should not be there. If you do not know if you can dig in a place, then you need to ask for permission before you do so. A few places that do allow digging would be your own backyard, the beach, and most city parks. However, if you are not sure, then you should always try and get permission first.

Russian Ancient Coins

There are a lot of different things that you can learn about metal detectors and how to use them. The best hint I can give you is to be sure to read the book that comes with our metal detector. I know that most of us just toss that kind of stuff to the side, and do not look at it unless there is a problem. However, by looking at that book, you could be saving yourself a lot of money. Do not just cast the book aside, be sure to read it. If you need anymore help, be sure to look at other sites on the internet as well.

Sevastopol plays a significant part of Crimea’s history. The city is hailed as city-museum or city-monument for the large number of monuments and monumental art that it houses. The city has a political significance as it was the bone of contention between Russia and independent Ukraine. The city has been home for the Russian Black Sea Fleet. The city has its share of embodiments of architectural brilliance. This multi-ethnic city has been home to many cultures. The boulevards around the Central Hill, the water front with the mesmerizing marine boulevard and the chestnut trees of Sevastopol are a breath taking sight.

Storm in Sevastopol

Sevastopol is one of the major port cities in Ukraine. It is situated on the Black Sea coast of the Crimean peninsula. The city housed the Soviet Black Sea Fleet earlier and is used as Ukrainian Naval base, by both the Ukrainian Navy and Russian Navy. Navigation conditions and geographic location of the city’s harbors has made the city a strategic naval point. Popular as a seaside resort and tourist destination among the CIS countries, Sevastopol is a significant center for marine biology research.

A popular naval citadel in Europe, founded in 1783, it developed into a remarkable commercial port, later. The city is renowned for the Siege of Sevastopol by French, British, Sardinian and Turkish troops during the Crimean war. The Axis siege witnessed the attack of the city at the hands of the Germans in the Second World War. It is now under the Ukrainian administration. Russian language dominates the city, though it is part of independent Ukraine.

Many streets in the city take the names of the Russian and Soviet military heroes. The military past of the city is commemorated by the monuments and plaques in Sevastopol.

The Chersnessos National Archaelogical Reserve, the Panorama Museum, Malakhov Krugan with its White Tower, Vladimirsky Cathedral on the central hill, the Sunken Ships Monument on Marine Boulevard, the Russian Black Sea Fleet Museum and Brotherhood Communal War Cemetery are among the must see list of the tourists who visit the city.

The Yalta Conference of 1945 was the second of three conferences held between the three Allied superpowers during the World War II era. During this particular confrence, which was to be the last one attended by President Roosevelt before his death, there was discussion about what to do with Germany and how to end the war in the pacific with the Japanese. This conference in Yalta would not be the last. There would be a third and final conference held before everything was settled with World War II, but even then not all would be fine. Out of the end of the war, the beginnings of the Cold War had originated.

Crimean Conference 1945

The Yalta Conference of 1945 was held in the month of February, 1945, on the Crimean peninsula in Russia. It was a meeting of political leaders to discuss what was happening in World War II. This was actually the second in a series of three meetings, and this particular conference taking place from February 4-11 at Yalta, among the three main Allied powers: the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union. The three representative leaders for these countries were President Roosevelt, Prime Minister Churchill, and Premier Stalin. The earlier conference was known as the Tehran Conference, and the one to follow it would be called the Potsdam Conference. The goal of these conferences was to establish an agenda for post-war Germany and how to best deal with the ending of the most horrific war the war had ever experienced.

Yalta, 1945 Summit

Each country had its own ideas coming into the conference, and this made the workings of the conference more difficult. Roosevelt desired the Soviets to assist the US in the Pacific war against the Japanese. Churchill sought the spread of democracy and free elections in Europe with the aid of the other two superpowers. Stalin wanted Soviet influence in Eastern European politics to secure Russian interests as a matter of national security for his country. In addition to thier agenda was the decision of what to do with Germany. This made for a difficult conference with much to be accomplished in a short time period.

Yalta 1945

Poland was a point of contention. It was desired by Stalin that the Russians should continue to occupy the area, thereby forcing out milions of Germans. Poland was seen as a necessity and a matter of security to the Russians, as many of their invaders in the past had come through Poland to reach them. In return for occupying Poland it was promised that the Russians would allow free elections. In January 1947 free elections were held and Poland was officially transferred from a communist to a socialist state, a transition completed by 1949. This transition was considered to still be slanted in favor of Soviet parties and not wholly independent.

Roosevelt asked for help in the Pacific war against the Japanese. One condition of this war was that Mongolia would become independent from China, which was agreed upon without diplomatic relations with China. Six months after the conference, formal war was declared on the Japanese in the Pacific by the Russians. To date, no peace treaty has ever been signed between the two countries and they failed to sign the original San Francisco Peace Treaty drawn up around the time physical war ended. The US had hoped that by asking the USSR to get involved, and by asking them to join the United Nations, that everything would be worked out as time passed. But no such thing ever happened.

Yalta Summit 1945

As for what to do about Germany, the beginnings of the Cold War had its origin here. The city of Berlin and the whole of Germany would be divided into factions, and the Berlin Wall would be constructed. Germany would be split into four occupied zones, with France controlling the fourth occupied area. There would be no forced labor or prisoner camps of the German people as reparation.

Yalta, Livadiya 2009

There was talk of dismantling the whole of Germany, but that would not happen. And the power of Stalin was to be underestimated, as would be seen in the third confrence and in the undertakings of the Cold War that was about to unfold.

Simferopol is the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, situated in the in southern part of the Ukraine. The city of Simferopol is situated, in general, on the small River Salhir. The city is famed in the international arena as the hub of the manufacturing, commercial, and transportation industry, and also the true center of several activities in an exclusive agricultural region with a high production. The products, that are produced in this region and have made the entire region a famous one in the global spectrum, include canned fruit, flour, machine tools, and electric equipment. The true location of the city is in the southern portion of the Crimean peninsula. The Simferopol Reservoir has its location almost near the city, providing the area with clean drinking water.

Simferopol Railway Station

Simferopol, according to many, is one of the most admirable places to spend a vacation. The main reason behind this notion is the climate of this very area, which happens to be both dry and warm, with the presence of soft winters. The average temperature in this region, especialy in the month of January is –0.5°С, and +21.2°С in July where the average rainfall happns to be 509 mm per year, and there is a total of 2,469 hours of sunlight per year. There is also the presence of a famous archaeological site known as Scythian Neapol, near to the city of Simferopol, where you can find the best instances of the remnants of an ancient capital of the Crimean Scythians. However, it should be mentioned, though the very city earned its reputation wth the Crimean War, it was the emregnce of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics or U.S.S.R., that gave the city the true prominence.

But in between these years the city went through ravages of time, like wars, and especiay in the 20th century, Simferopol once again was affected by wars in the region. For instance, after the end of the bloody Russian Civil War that torn the entire region into many halves, the headquarters of General Pyotr Wrangel, leader of the anti-Bolshevik White Army, were located there. It was only on November 13, 1920, when the Red Army captured the city and on October 18, 1921, Simferopol became the capital of the Crimean Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.

The city again entered into rough times in the Word War II when the Nazi Germany made one of the dedliest oeprations recorded in the whole course of the war. It was during these times the city Simferopol was occupied by the advancing Nazi German Army between November 1, 1941 and April 13, 1944. The city also witnessed one of the largest war-time massacres in Simferopol, killing in total over 22,000 locals, of which the majority were Russians, Jews, Krymchaks, and Gypsies. If you are have a habit to sudy the Internet, you will come across numerous exmples, where it is stated, that on one occasion, on December 13, 1941, the Einsatzgruppen D under the command of Otto Ohlendorfwas responsible for the ghastly murder of at least 14,300 Simferopol residents. The city was liberated when the Soviets emerged victorious and freed Simferopol in April of 1944. However, on May 18, of the same year the Crimean Tatar population of the city with the whole Crimean Tatar nation was forcibly deported to Central Asia.

Simferopol, Central Market

During the rule of the U.S.S.R., it will not be wrong to ascertain that in spite of several probelems the city of Simferopol made some considerable progress. It is the saga of development from that period till date that has blessed the city with a railway terminus, serving millions of summer tourists each year, and also the Simferopol Airport. Apart from thi, the longest trolley bus line of the world connects Simferopol to Yalta on Crimea’s Black Sea coast. Due to the political compulsions and chaniging world order after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, Simferopol became the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea within newly independent Ukraine. The city of Simferopol at present has a population of 363,600 comprised of mostly ethnic Russians, along with the significant presence of Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar minorities.

There are many great places in the world that you can go, but one of the best places would have to be to Sudak in Crimea. This is a great place that is very popular today, and it’s known for its great resorts. Many people from around the world travel to this area every year to see many different things.

Sudak, Crimea 2009

In fact, one of its most seen attractions would have to be the Genoese Fortress. There are many places that are worth seeing on the Black sea, however, this is one of the nicest by far. If you are going to take a vacation in Crimea, you might as well stay in the city of Sudak.

Sudak, Genoese Fortress

Whenever you come to Sudak you can rest assure that you and your family are going to have a lot to see and do there. First of all, we should point out that this area has some of the best resorts in the world that are located on the Black Sea. You have never seen the Black sea like this, and many people are blown away when they come to this area. Not only are the resorts around this area nice, but so is the food.

Genoese Fortress in Sudak

If you have never had food from that area of the world, then you do not know what you are missing. It is not like any food you have ever had in your life and beats the crap out of any food over here in America. The people in this area also add to the greatest of this spot. They are all very friendly, and they make you feel welcome. This is by far one of my favorite places to travel to in the whole world.

While you are in Sudak you have a lot of sight seeing to do. This place is not just known for having the best food and best resorts on the Black sea, it is also full of a lot of attractions. As said before, the Genoese Fortress is one of the most popular attractions. This fortress is composed of 16 towers that came to be in the 14th and 15th centuries. Another fun thing to go see is the Consul Tower that was made in 1903. This is a hot spot for a lot of tourists to come and see. It is a great tower that is unlike any other tower I have ever seen before. Be sure to also come see the Bay of Sudak at night. This area comes to life with dancing lights as soon as the sun sets over the horizon. As you can clearly see, this is a town that is packed full of things to see and do. The best thing to remember is the fact that it’s a historical town, and there is a lot to learn here also.

Sudak Panorama

I have been to many places in the world, but none of them have moved me in the same way that Sudak did. This is an area that my whole family would love, and I am going to take them all there one day. This is going to become one of my favorite getaway areas. I think this is because it has everything that you need in order to have a great vacation. Nice resorts by the sea, check! Great tasting food and friendly people, double check! Amazing historical places that you cannot see anywhere else in the world, of course! This is one of the funnest places I have ever been, and I am sure to go back there sometime soon. If you have never been, this is the place that you have been looking for.

Autonomous republic of Crimea has a long story to tell the world that includes conquests, intrigue and independence. Crimea History encompasses the path of Crimea from the hands of various rulers to autonomy. Crimea History states the array of conquest made by the Cimmerians, Iranians, Greeks, Huns, Goths, Khazars, Bulgars, Byzantine, Kipchaks, Mongols, Ottoman Empire, Russian Empire, Soviet Union, Ukraine and Germany on Crimea. Crimea has been the bone of contention among the Russians and Ukrainians, before it became the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, a significant part of Ukraine. Crimea was once hailed as “Soviet Riviera”, owing to its climate and presence of incalculable resorts.

Autonomous Republic of Crimea is an integral part of Ukraine. It is located on the Black Sea, on the northern part of the coast. Crimea History delineates a history that is replete with many a conquest on the territory by the Cimmerians, Iranians, Greeks, Huns, Goths, Khazars, Bulgars, Byzantine, Kipchaks, Mongols, Ottoman Empire, Russian Empire, Soviet Union, Ukraine and Germany. With Simferopol, as its capital, the autonomous republic of Crimea houses about 20 lakh inhabitants.

A parliamentary republic, Crimea is devoid of a president. A council of ministers spearheaded by a Prime Minister embodies the executive power. It is divided into 25 regions that comprise urban-type settlement, city and village. Tourism and agriculture boosts the economy of the nation. People belonging to many ethnic groups co-exist in Crimea. The ethnic groups include Russians, Ukrainians, Crimean Tatars, Belarusians, Tatars, Armenians and Jews. The minority ethnic Groups in Crimea are the Black Sea German, Roma people, Bulgarians, Poles, Azerbaijanis, Koreans and the Greeks.

Crimea History states that Crimea was also known as ‘Tauris’, which housed Cimmerian People called ‘Tauri’. The people were expelled by the Scythians in the 7th century B.C. The Scythians established the kingdom of Cimmerian Bosporous. Later Greeks colonized Crimea. After the Greeks, Huns, Khazars, Cumans ruled. Mongols controlled Crimea for a significant period and then Byzantine controlled the autonomous Republic from 6th to 12th century.
Crimea History explicates the trade relations of Crimea with Kievan Rus during the 13th century. An independent Khanate was established by the Tatars in the year 1475, in the central and northern part of Crimea. During the 15th century, Ottoman Empire conquered the khanate and the coastal towns. Crimea History throws light upon the Russian Conquests. In 1736, Russians invaded Crimea. The Turks announced the independence of the Khanate in 1774 and then annexed the territory of Crimea. An account of the Crimean War that began in 1853 and ended in 1856 is a significant part of Crimea History.

Independent Crimea was announced in 1917, subsequent to the Bolshevik Revolution. German armed forces occupied the region, soon after the proclamation of independence, ironically. In 1921, the Crimean Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was born. The republic faced dissolution in1945 and became a part of the Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic. It became a part of Ukraine in 1954. The dissolution of Soviet Union in 1991 resulted in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine on the possession of Crimea.

The attempts by the Russian dominated Crimean Government to recognize the independence of Crimea was terminated before gaining momentum, according to Crimea History, in 1992. After a series of conflicts both internal and external the present constitution was mobilized and Republic of Crimea became the Autonomous republic of Crimea. Crimea History portrays the interesting and intriguing story of the evolution of Crimea.
